New found time (without EVE)
It’s amazing how without EVE online, I suddenly have so much time. What am I doing with it? Working on the site of course! I’ve added some pretty ad-links at the bottom of the site now, fixed un-ordered lists in posts, separated the footer and sidebar into separate files within the green-river theme, and loads of other little mods to my site. I did some wordpress plugin hunting, and even made a post about an awesome-google-analytics-plugin-for-wordpress that I installed.
I’ve worked a bunch on my restaurant selector in the past few days as well. Soon, I will convert it over to my own database, implement user logins and many other new features which should have been in it a long time ago.
Lastly, I have made a decision that I will actually change my site theme drastically soon, in that I am going to make a new header and background. I’m thinking about using the keira knightley background I talked about in this post in it (very faint though). I’ll keep you posted on this.
Rant: DO NOT use your brakes (sometimes)
A good friend of mine has a site dedicated to writing his rants and pet peeves. The site is bryansrants.com, and I go to it just about everyday. I don’t want to start my own rant site, but I do want to introduce a new feature to my site. Whenever stuff annoys me, I’ll rant about it.
To start off, let’s talk about stopping. When I say stopping, I mean in a car. I mean your brakes, the pedal one uses to stop his car. It annoys the hell out of me when someone in front of me hits the brakes, and I simply let off the gas, and do not gain on them at all. There are only 2 situations when brakes should be used. First, is when your coming to a stop, at a stoplight or stop sign. Second, perpendicular turns onto side streets.
When Not to use your brakes:
- DO NOT use your brakes on highway curves. All one must do is properly adjust the steering wheel, and coast through the turn.
- DO NOT use your brakes in front of cops. If you’ve waited that long your already screwed, not to mention he’ll see your brake lights anyway and know you were speeding.
- DO NOT brake at crosswalks when there is nobody crossing them (or nobody on either side of the street). Pay attention when your driving, don’t just slow down for pretty lines in the road.
- DO NOT brake on the highway if you can simply just switch lanes safely. (2 lane highways)
- DO NOT slam on your brakes, ever. If one pays attention on the road, brakes should never have to be slammed.
Now, with all that in mind, I have a little more to say. First off,I have a stick shift, which probably slows down quicker using the engine better then most cars (however, I rarely, if ever, down shift). Secondly, I understand that slowing down can make for safe driving, and I totally condone safe driving, but, I do believe that braking when someone behind you does not expect it, or when it is not needed is unsafe and does in fact cause accidents.
(This is a rant, and is meant to be informative, not instructional. apexad does not condone changing of driving habits that might be considered unsafe, and hereby takes no responsibility for your actions while driving.)
