Some leaves blow up in the wind of apexad.net

Recently, apexad.net has seen several important changes. These changes were mostly done to help readers navigate the site. Below is a list of some of these changes.

Wordpress Upgraded
I’ve just upgraded my blog to Wordpress 2.06 and as a result made a few small tweaks to it including making the month header a link and separating trackbacks and comments. This is stuff I had done before, but got lost with my new theme and the Wordpress upgrade.

Category Changes
I’ve added a ‘Keira’ category to my blog since alot of my posts are about Keira Knightley. I also had changed the ‘blog’ category to ‘general’ but decided to change it back. On this topic as well, I vow to be a littl better in selecting my categories now. In the past some of my posts have walked a very thin line as to if they were related to my blog in general, web development, or news.

The Bottom Bar
My site now has an added information bar at the bottom. It lists my top commentators, most popular posts, and most recent comments (each link goes to the site of the plugin being used to display that information). I hope that this bar will help my loyal comment writers with a link, and everyone else to see which post is popular so they can add their opinion of the topic discussed.

Page Rank
Thanks to everyone who reads my blog, everyone who links to it, and you! In the recent Page Rank updated, my blog now has a Google Page Rank of 4. I am very happy about this. It is well achieved! It’s ironic though, how my blog has better PR then my flagship site at RestaurantSelector.com because in all reality I would much rather have that site be more popular.

Paid Posting
I have begun doing some “Paid Posts” using PayPerPost.com, and I apologize upfront if some posts come off as blatant advertising. However, I want to re-assure you that I would never post about something I don’t agree with, and no matter what the goal of the paid post is, I will add my own take on it, and truly express my real opinion on the topic, just like any other post on my blog.

Snap Preview Removed
As cool as it was to see a preview of the site you were possibly about to click on, I was finding that I was having to put ‘class=”snap_nopreview” into more and more links. Not to mention it also adds to the overall size of my site for a gain that is mostly not worth it. Snap is a great addition to a website, but it just seems to me that it does not work well on a blog.

Newscribe

I just recently heard of this great new site. It’s a bit like a cross between Wikipedia, digg, a forum, and your average news site. However, as much as t has similar elements to all of those things, it has it’s own great flair as well. It’s an entirely new thing, and is bound to become huge very soon. (Now is your chance to be an early-adopter of something great!) One of the common problems with Digg, Wikipedia, and forums is the new articles that aren’t reliable. That’s not the case with Newscribe. All the news on the site is reliable. The peer review system is the user submitted part, and the most fun of the whole site. Anyone can read the news, but sharing reviews and opinions and seeing how many people appreciate your opinion is really gratifying.

Newscribe allows its users to efficiently find and read trusted news articles from various primary content providers. It aims to increase the sense of timeliness of breaking news so that news readers are made more aware and well-informed of situations around the world. Also, our goal is to provide an avenue for news readers to obtain unbiased, quality news articles from multiple news streams.

Like other sites though, Newscribe also has a great peer review community. Users are able to review and post their opinions of articles or read other peoples reviews or opinions. Then, if the user would like, they can rate each reviewer based on the quality of the review. The good reviewers will rise to he top, and great quality news stories will always shine through. It’s truly a one-stop place for the latest news and opinions on everything that is happening in the world.

We believe that a community of citizen journalists can be built by providing a platform that allows for easy mediation of quality news analysis. As such, a system to rate reviewers has been built into the application to judge the quality of reviews.

Don’t “surf” the internet all day long when you can find all the great articles in one place! Try Newscribe today.
