I am using Ella now!

Today Dreamhost finally upgraded the 1-click install for upgrading to Wordpress 2.1 and since I am lazy as hell and chose to use the 1-click feature of my awesome host to install and upgrade Wordpress…I just upgraded today.

It’s cool to see the “Saved at #:###:## thing below, and that a category wasn’t auto-selected for me. Otherwise, I am not noticing any major differences really.

Update: I had too do a few things to make Ella work completely:

fix my comments (trackbacks and comments are split, see binary moon).

fix the month header in the wordpress calendar, and make it click-able. (instructions on how to do this are at the bottom of this post)

Time to get supplies!

Around this time, school is starting back up (or has already begun a few weeks ago) for students. What that means is the time has come where students will be writing papers, reports, and plenty of other things which will need to be printed out. With lots of papers there is one thing most people probably don’t realize they need.

What is that you ask? Well, the first thing is a printer. The second though is ink or toner (basically, a a href=”http://www.databazaar.com”>printer cartridge) for the printer. This stuff is available at many brick and mortar locations. However, brick and mortar locations rarely have the printer cartridge you will need for your printer, and they are usually highly overpriced. This is why I find it better to use online stores for this sort of thing. Yeah, you have to wait for your items to be shipped.

However, this in large part is the point of my post. Plan ahead! Have a spare printer cartridge available so that when your current one runs out, you can immediately replace it with a new one. One such place is databazaar.com. I’ve gone over their prices and selection and it seems to be priced fairly well.

Rant: GPA Requirements in college

I hate them! I mean seriously, why? For some majors you can graduate with a 2.0, while for others it’s a 2.5, some are a 2.7 or 2.8, and finally some even higher. I am willing to bet you can guess I would only complain about this if it was somehow hurting me. You would be correct. The deal is, the degree I would like to graduate requires a 2.5, and my GPA is just under that right now. For the past few semesters I have had serious doubts if I would ever be able to graduate with the degree I wanted.

If GPA Requirements did not play a factor in me being able to enter into classes I may have been done with college. I may have been done this semester. I cannot say exactly how I would have done if allowed to enter certain classes earlier. Nevertheless, it is over it is done, and there’s not much I can do besides do well, so I can graduate. I just wanted to put this out though, because I really feel that these requirements only serve to hinder students in moving forward.
