I am using Ella now!

Today Dreamhost finally upgraded the 1-click install for upgrading to Wordpress 2.1 and since I am lazy as hell and chose to use the 1-click feature of my awesome host to install and upgrade Wordpress…I just upgraded today.

It’s cool to see the “Saved at #:###:## thing below, and that a category wasn’t auto-selected for me. Otherwise, I am not noticing any major differences really.

Update: I had too do a few things to make Ella work completely:

fix my comments (trackbacks and comments are split, see binary moon).

fix the month header in the wordpress calendar, and make it click-able. (instructions on how to do this are at the bottom of this post)

Open wp-includes/general-template.php

change:
‘ . $wp_locale->get_month($thismonth) . ‘ ‘ . date(’Y', $unixmonth) . ‘
to:
‘.$wp_locale->get_month($thismonth) . ‘ ‘ . date(’Y', $unixmonth) . ‘
1. For how long have you been with Dreamhost, and what server are you on? After 3 months, I wouldn’t call them too great.

  3. Allen,

    I’ve been with Dreamhost for 7 months. There have been some down times, but I’d say I am pretty happy with what I am getting. I am on saltine.

  4. I’ve been with Dreamhost for close to 6 years. On the whole, they have some great features and a near-idiot-proof web-panel….but they do suffer from some downtime.

    But for the price, it works for me…and the customer service is great.
