The Revenge of Sweeney Todd

I have to admit before Pirates of the Caribbean I was not exactly a huge fan of Johnny Depp. Since then, it’s a little bit different though. His latest movie is certainly an interesting one. Sweeney Todd is banished out of London but manages to sneak his way back in. Once back in he sets up a barber shop and goes on a quest for revenge.

Supposedly Sweeney Todd will be the best revenge movie ever. This is what makes it interesting for me. I personally think that Kill Bill has the best revenge story of any movie. Uma Thurman’s character, the bride, is left for dead and somehow she survives and goes on a quest to kill everyone who tried to kill her. For those of you who have not seen Kill Bill you are missing out. Watch them both, then go see Sweeney Todd in theaters on December 21st and come back to my blog to let me know which one you think is better.

Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd is directed by Tim Burton and it also stars another one of his favorite actors, Helena Boham Carter. If you want any more information about this movie, visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site.

8,000G Club (Xbox Live Gamerscore)

Awhile back my achievement obsessed friend Ryan posted that he had reached 15,000G. He is now over 16,000G which makes me a little under half of his total with my small 8,010G at the time of this post, but it’s something. I am officially in the 8,000G Club whatever that means.

Lately I’ve been playing a few Xbox Live Arcade games like Carcassonne (which I downloaded free), Zuma, Frogger and some others. A few more achievements in Halo 3 also helped. If I get a lot of time I should be able to move up to 9,000 pretty quick. I need 2 beat only 2 levels on legendary with Halo 3, and I will master Frogger and beat the 3rd level and maybe more any day now. Otherwise I also have Perfect Dark Zero that still has a few achievements that are within reach.

TechBargains.com for those who missed Black Friday

logo_holidays.gif
It will take me some time to get back in the full swing of things with my blog. I am still adjusting to posting again after having not posted for so long. My mind is still very much occupied and drained because of Black Friday, at least for right now. I hope you all read my Black Friday story post and I hope that I hear some sharing of experiences. If I don’t though because people think I am crazy for waiting out in the cold, I found a pretty cool site for you.

The site is tech bargains and it’s exactly what you think it is and so much more. The sites motto is “targeting the best deals in tech” and it does that very well. One great example would be the cheap hdtv section which has a list of cheap/discounted HDTVs.

The other thing about tech bargains though is not just the deals, it is also the services they provided. You can sign up for an e-mail newsletter that outlines deals of the week for you. They’ve got loads of product reviews for you to read. RSS feeds are available that have up to the minute deal updates. There are mobile versions of the web pages. The website in general is very easy to use as well. You hardly have to look at all to find what you want. Lastly, make note that the site is constantly updated. It even gets updated during holidays!

My Black Friday (and Thanksgiving) experience

Best Buy logo Last year I learned about Black Friday. My mom went and got in line at Best Buy only a few hours before the store opened to try and get me a widescreen monitor. When she got in, they were already gone. This year I cam back from hunting early, and decided to wait in front of Best Buy myself. It was my first year, as a Black Friday Newbie, and here is my story.

The preparation and arrival

On Wednesday night I set my cellphone to have an alarm at 7:37 AM (I don’t like putting alarms at times like 7:30 AM or 7:00 AM). The intention was to wake up, take a shower and load up my car and be at Best Buy before 10:00 AM to at the very least check the line. Instead I woke up before my alarm went off at around 7:02 AM and promptly took a shower and loaded up my car. When I got to Best Buy there was already a car in the parking lot. It was 2 guys “holding” 4 spots. I would later learn they got there around 7:00 AM in the morning but also checked the line the night before to make sure that they were first in line.

The long wait

Since some people had already arrived I called my good friend the opinionated blogger who was going to wait in line with me. I asked him if I should stay or go since there was only a few people in line. He said stay, and got their himself about an hour later. In that hour 8 more spots in line were taken.

By the time 3:00 PM on Thursday rolled around there was probably close to 20 people in line at my Best Buy. Basically, all 20 of those people certainly got what they wanted so getting there at 8:30 AM was completely unnecessary but it was a different experience to “stand” in line at Best Buy for 20.5 hours and I will probably do it again next year.

I was all dressed in warm hunting clothes, opinionated blogger wad dressed up in warm snow boarding clothes. We setup a tent and some chairs outside the tent. We also had a space heater which we turned on every once in awhile to get the feeling back in our feet and hands. We had lunch brought to us by my Mom and a thanksgiving dinner brought to us by opinionated blogger’s Mom and sister. We walked around, met a few people and did even made a list of the first 167 people in line just to waist some time.

What we bought

In the end, my Mom actually joined us so that I could get 2 laptops, 1 for me, and 1 to either give to my brother-in-law or sell on eBay (it ended up on eBay). I also bought a 22″ Widescreen monitor and an Sandisk mp3 player that will be a gift for someone. My mom bought a camera, 2 mp3 players, a gps, and several dvds that will be gifts. Opinionated blogger bought his girlfriend a laptop, his mom a gps and bluetooth headset, and himself a 2GB usb flash drive.

Making the news!

On a side note, opinionated blogger and I made the 10:00 PM news in our city!

12 days without Keira Knightley

It’s been 12 days without a post about Keira Knightley on my blog. Of course, there has actually been only one post in the last 12 days. I’m back now though and I am hoping that I can get back into the habit of posting on my blog. Most importantly, I am hoping to add some more Keira Knightley related posts.

Sadly, this isn’t much of a Keira Knightley post at all either, but it’s something.

At some point when I have time, I am going to take steps so that my when you go to the Keira Knightley category it will have it’s own rss-feed. I am even going to try and use mod_rewrite to make the Keira Knightley section stay as keirablog.com if that’s how you went into it.

Be sure to watch Regis and Kelly on December 3rd as keiraweb.com reports that Keira Knightley will be a guest star on that day.
