He was a quiet man

He was a quiet manI was bored the other day and I actually had a little bit of free time, so I decided to scroll through moves in Xbox Live Marketplace. I found a movie called, ‘He was a quiet man’. The movie stars Christian Slater, Elisha Cuthbert (as a brunette), and William H. Macy. It was released in 2008, although I never saw it in theaters. The plot synopsis is:

Bob Maconel (Christian Slater) endures another eight hours in his dull gray cubicle. Ignore by his co-workers, Bob feels completely invisible and out of syn with the world. On one strange day he crosses the line from potential killer to inadvertant hero when he saves beautiful Venassa (Elisha Cuthbert). His boss (William H. Macy) transforms Bob into a new man but his good fortune is short-lived when the Object of his affection asks him to end her life.

For a movie that never got put in theaters, I really liked it. Bob could be the guy sitting you next to you in your office. It really makes you think about what a drain a job can be and the importance of making friends at your workplace. If you get a chance I highly recommend this movie. It gets the point across but its not bloody or gory in any way.

I would rank it 4 out of 5 stars!

Where to take my next flight?

As I mentioned in an earlier post on my blog, I now have in my possession $125 toward a ticket on a Northwest Airlines flight. The question is where do I go? I could go somewhere in the United States like Las Vega, Florida..again, or New York. However, I was thinking that something even cooler would be to get a Northwest flight to New York then find flights to India, Europe, Japan, or some other country. The World is my playground but I don’t know where I want to go for a vacation. I am asking all of you out there to help me out with this.

Help me decide where to take my vacation. Where did you go on your last vacation? Where do you want to go on your next vacation? What vacation (and where did you go) to have the most fun?

Whatever all of my readers say, I might just use DialAflight.com to help me book the vacation.

New HDTV, more HD-DVDs

19 I just got the TV pictured to the left. It’s not the biggest HDTV in the world. In fact, it’s actually pretty small. It is 19″ and 720P. I got it on sale at Best Buy for $250 (that’s cheaper than anything on Newegg). I’ve plugged my Xbox 360 (with my brand new HD-DVD drive) into it and the picture is amazing! I could not be happier with my purchase. It works perfectly for me right now and will be a great TV for my bedroom when I get my own place (which will be very soon, look for a future blog post).

Anyway, I’ve also collected quite a lot of HD-DVDs to watch on my new HDTV, they are:

Resident Evil Trilogy (German Imports)
The Matrix Trilogy
Harry Potter 1-5
King Kong
American Gangster
Pride and Prejudice
Elephant’s Dream (German Import - Digital Short)
Mission Impossible 2 (In the mail)

As you can see, I’ve generally tried to pickup trilogies and sets. I think that a ‘collection’ is defined by full sets of movies like that. Otherwise I am planning on getting many more movies as prices for HD-DVDs come down. American Gangster is DVD and HD-DVD Combo Format and despite the fact that it came out less than a month ago, I picked it up for just $17.00 at Wal Mart.

Lastly, as soon as I move into my place, I am planning on getting a 46″-65″ HDTV for my living room, but no point in getting that when I have no good place to put it.

Florida delayed flight brings fun and luck!

000_0151.JPGI was suppose to leave Ft. Lauderdale, FL at 1:15 PM on Thursday. My flight was delayed and eventually re-scheduled to 7AM in the morning on Friday. However, because I had a connecting flight (from Detroit to Milwaukee) I was able to re-schedule my flight to 3:00PM on Friday.

Since it was such as hassle, the airport gave me $125 that can go towards a future flight and $10 towards food in the airport. That was the beginning of my good luck.

Here is the rest:

  • I had to get a new car, they were out of compact cars, so they upgraded me to a Chrysler Sebring Convertible for just $10.
  • I then got to the hotel around 11:05PM (on Thursday) and caught the front desk attendants leaving, and he went back around the desk and checked me in.
  • Then, even though I needed a password for wireless internet access, I found out that maps.google.com works on my cellphone.
  • I got directions to Miami Beach and visited my cousin and had a drink (1 miller light, $5).
  • After I left the bar I got pulled over by the police. He told me to turn on my lights and for the first time ever in my life, I got pulled over by the cops and did not get a ticket.
  • I then went back to the hotel and slept. In the morning I checked out and had Sushi for brunch. It was super cheap and really delicious. The best Sushi I’ve ever had in my life (and I’ve had a lot).
  • Then I went back to the airport. They told me that I would get free exit rows seats on both my flights home (exit rows normally cost $15 extra because the leg room is amazing).
  • When I went to spend my $10 food voucher, I ran into another person in line with food vouchers, except he had about $60 worth. Later, he was leaving and gave me $10 that he had left (since you cannot spend it anywhere except the airport).
  • My flight left on time at 3:00PM and my flight in Detroit was delayed about 10 minutes, but that actually worked out as it gave me a little time to pick up some gifts.

So, the moral of the story is, next time you think things are the absolute worst, like getting stuck in an airport for 4 hours, then a plane for 4 hours (and never leaving) just realize, things will get better, much better.

The extra day in Ft. Lauderdale made the entire trip really fun.

HD-DVD, Busy, Florida

It’s been quite awhile since I posted, and a lot has happened. As you know, HD-DVD has basically thrown in the towel and many are claiming it’s time to get a blu-ray player but I am not one of those people. I’m currently at 13 movies on HD-DVD and that does not count the 5 that should be coming in the mail, since I ended up buying an Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive on the Feb. 28th, the last day of the free 5 HD-DVD promotion.

Other than that I have been pretty busy with other things. Busy in this case could mean that I was playing video games or watching TV, but the fact remains that I was doing other things, and my blog suffered for a little while. I apologize for this. However, it’s not the first time I took a long break from my blog and its not the last.

Finally, I’m going to Florida tomorrow! It’s not a vacation, it’s a business trip, but its bound to be much warmer than Wisconsin is right now and I am very excited!
