Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

If you think this is the first time I’ve discussed boxing on my blog, think again. A search for Fight Night should bring up several posts about my experiences with the Xbox 360 game.

So, remembering that I’ve gotten all 1000 gamer points in Fight Night Round 3 it should come as no shock that I am interested in some De La Hoya vs Mayweather tickets, as I enjoy boxing just as much as the next person. This fight is sure to not disappoint either.

This will be the second fight between these two and the first one broke all PPV records last May in Las Vegas. Oscar ‘Golden Boy’ De Le Hoya’s promotion company CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN that the bout is “almost finalized” for September 13 or September 20.

Are you ready for this fight? It’s sure to be a battle worth watching as 2 of the best do the rematch thing to determine who is better once and for all. In the last fight Mayweather won by a split-decision and took De Le Hoya’s junior middleweight belt away from him. Naturally, De Le Hoya should be all practiced up this time, ready to re-earn his belt back.

NBA Live ‘07 (for Xbox 360) for $1

NBA Live '07 for XBox 360I believe it was last year that I got introduced to Protrade by my friends Bryan and Nate. Basically it’s a “sports stock market” where you buy and sell players and teams from just about every sport. The real market value of the player is based on how good they’re doing. The actual trading price of the player varies. Usually most players will have prices which reflect what price they’ll be worth at the end of the season.

The more money that you get, the better. You can trade protrade dollars and usually a very small actual dollar amount for prizes. Since I don’t use protrade anymore I was looking through the prizes and came across NBA Live ‘07 for $40,000 Protrade dollars and $1. Yeah, it’s a year old but this is a brand new never been opened copy and I currently don’t own a basketball game for My xbox 360, so I figure it’s a steal.

I’ve reached the 10,000/5 Digit Xbox Achievment score club

The last time I posted my Gamerscore was when I hit 8,000. That was November 29th, 2007. It’s been a long road over these past 4 months to get to 10,000, but I did it!

Thanks to some late night All-Pro Football 2K8, Hardwood Hearts, and many other games, I have finally reached a 10,000 Gamerscore. I managed to hit it right on the dot tonight.

I’m way ahead of some of my friends and way behind others, but I am very proud of my score! I’ve had my Xbox 360 for a couple of years, and I’ve gone up and down on how much I play it. Lately, I’ve been using it as a movie player a lot more than a video game console. Nevertheless, I think that more score should continue to increase on a pretty regular basis. I’ll keep you all updated!

HD-DVD, Busy, Florida

It’s been quite awhile since I posted, and a lot has happened. As you know, HD-DVD has basically thrown in the towel and many are claiming it’s time to get a blu-ray player but I am not one of those people. I’m currently at 13 movies on HD-DVD and that does not count the 5 that should be coming in the mail, since I ended up buying an Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive on the Feb. 28th, the last day of the free 5 HD-DVD promotion.

Other than that I have been pretty busy with other things. Busy in this case could mean that I was playing video games or watching TV, but the fact remains that I was doing other things, and my blog suffered for a little while. I apologize for this. However, it’s not the first time I took a long break from my blog and its not the last.

Finally, I’m going to Florida tomorrow! It’s not a vacation, it’s a business trip, but its bound to be much warmer than Wisconsin is right now and I am very excited!

My parents bought an HD-DVD player (and so will I…soon)

Nearly a month ago I took my side in the HD-DVD versus Blu-Ray format war when I bought a Combo format HD-DVD even though I did not own an HD-DVD player yet. The exact movie I bought is irrelevant. The point is, I took sides. Concurrently, since I own an Xbox 360 I have been really really tempted to buy an HD-DVD Drive for it. However, I have acutally decided against that for the reason that supposeldy the USB cable is not secure and thus movies with the media flag set will not play properly. (To clarify, some do have this set! One I can think of in particular is the importable version of Resident Evil HD-DVD).

Anyway, my parents recently finally listened to me and bought a new High Definition TV when there old TV broke. My Dad then asked me about getting a new DVD player for the TV, and I told him he could get an Upconverting DVD player, or get a Toshiba HD-A3 with 9 free HD-DVD movies from Best Buy. He went with the Tosihiba HD-DVD A3 and has now taken his side.

I am trying to convince him to buy some imported HD-DVDs that are not available in the United States now. Why? Because you can! HD-DVD is region free!

I hate Sony! Down with the PS3! Down with Blu-Ray!

Down with BetaMax! Down with UMD! Down with MiniDisc! (oh wait… those are already ‘down’ and gone.)
